With 40,425 new coronavirus cases on Jul 20 2020, India now has registered a total of 11,18,043 COVID-19 infections across the country. This includes 681 new deaths which have taken the total count to 27,497. The total number of coronavirus cases also includes 7,00,087 people who have recovered and 3,90,459 who are currently being treated. There were 40,425 new active cases and 22,664 new recovered cases on Jul 20 2020. The data for this was released by the Union Health Ministry at 5:30 am
According to the latest numbers, Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus cases at 3,10,455. Of this 1,40,886 are active, 1,69,569 are recovered and 11,854 have died. Tamil Nadu and Delhi are next with 1,70,693 and 1,22,793 total COVID-19 cases respectively. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sikkim and Mizoram have the lowest number coronavirus cases with 203, 283 and 284 respectively.
India currently has a fatality rate of 2.55 per cent due to coronavirus. The government has said more than 70 per cent of the people recover from COVID-19 with mild or very mild symptoms. Such cases may not even require admission to COVID-19 blocks or dedicated hospitals, the Health Ministry said.
